CHADDS FORD, PA — Consult YHN, the nation’s largest network of audiology and hearing healthcare professionals, is excited to announce that audiologist Dr. Heather Carter, Au.D., has been appointed as its first Director of Audiology.
In her new role, Dr. Carter will bring audiology business leaders together in an effort to promote and guide the audiological community towards business growth and industry impact.
Dr. Carter will advance Consult’s mission at a state and national level by fostering relationships with audiology associations and organizations and will lead an advisory council whose members will work to uphold the integrity of quality hearing healthcare in this ever-evolving industry. The council will collaborate to bridge the divide between clinical best practices and effective business strategy. Dr. Carter will also partner with colleges and universities across the country to educate Au.D. graduate students to be successful in private practice.
“Our industry is having to evolve at a rapid pace to address Managed Care, OTC, and COVID-19 challenges,” said Dr. Carter. “I am thrilled to spearhead this initiative to empower my fellow audiologists so that our voices are heard, and we can make a real difference.”
Dr. Carter joined Consult as an Account Manager in 2015 with over 20 years of clinical audiology experience. Over the past six years, she has helped countless hearing healthcare practices reach revenue goals while remaining viable in today’s competitive landscape.
“As an industry leader, now more than ever, Consult wants to give its audiologists a collective voice to enact change and drive their businesses forward,” said Bill Connerton, Consult YHN’s Vice President of Sales. “Dr. Carter understands first-hand that having superior clinical skills as well as a strong business foundation is crucial to having a successful hearing healthcare practice. We are confident that her unique skill-set and expertise in both realms will elevate the value we provide to our Associates.”
Dr. Carter received both her master’s and doctoral degrees from Gallaudet University, the only liberal arts university in the world exclusively devoted to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. She is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and is passionate about educating her colleagues on Deaf Culture and the nuances of working with Deaf patients.
